Dalmatians need daily exercise, as they are very active and energetic dogs. Romping, playing and running are their favorite activities. If a Dalmatian is taken out for a walk several times a day, it can do all right in apartment conditions. However, Dalmatians are rather active indoors. A yard is desirable to provide the dog with necessary amount of exercise.

Dalmatians - Rescue Dogs

If the Dalmatian breed attracts you, adopting a rescue dog may be a step to consider. The Dalmatian needs time, attention, obedience training and exercise. Adding a Dalmatian to your family means taking responsibility for its well-being. A fenced yard and another canine companion may be some of the important requirements for adopting a rescue Dalmatian.

It should be emphasized that dogs in shelters experience great emotional stress. They have been abandoned or lost their families. It is impossible to explain to them what has really happened. Therefore, adopting a rescue Dalmatian, you should be ready for a lifetime commitment.

Think about your budget. Rescue Dalmatians may need veterinary help that makes medical expenses costly, let alone food and some equipment. Dalmatians are willing to be included in the family's activities and having decided to adopt a dog, make sure you are able to provide it with quality time.

Dalmatians Breeders - Dalmatians are old dogs whose appearance did not change greatly over a great period of time. It is definite that the breed was known in many countries and used to perform various functions. Nowadays, nobody can say for sure what the exact origin of the Dalmatian is. Many countries attempted to prove being privy to the dog's development. However, the official version speaks in favor of Dalmatia, a part of Croatia.

There are a few speculations concerning the breed's name. Many dog fanciers admit that it were British breeders who popularized its present day name. A huge relief found in Dalmatia, and depicting a similar dog, probably gave the impetus to the breed's name. Still, it can be that Dalmatian ancestors were firstly used in Dalmatia to guard their border from Turkish armies. The fact that these dogs were widely spread in Dalmatia is prompted by evidence that a huge kennel breeding about 500 Dalmatians was situated in this region.

Dalmatians - Dalmatians are medium-sized, well-balanced dogs serving mainly as a watchdog, companion, therapy dog and performing in agility, flyball and some other canine sports. They are active and intelligent, and need training from an early age.

Dalmatians are rather easy to take care for. Their short coat demands an occasional bath, and regular brushing. Also, Dalmatians require a great deal of exercise, especially as young dogs.

Dalmatians Pictures - Dalmatians are dogs close in their physical characteristics to pointing dogs. They are muscular, with a deep chest and well-sprung ribs. The skull is square with a long muzzle. Round eyes are dark. The tail should never curve over back, or be carried between hind legs.

According to the standard the Dalmatian's height should be about 19-24 inches. In the UK the Dalmatian is generally larger. As for weight, it ranges from 40 to 70 pounds. Individual dogs may weigh as much as 90 pounds.

Dalmatians Puppies - Dalmatians are very popular dogs. This popularity was fueled by the famous movie and happened to be crucial for the breed. Besides love and affection, it created many misconceptions concerning the Dalmatian's personality.

Though the Dalmatian is an intelligent, friendly dog, it can be hard to train. It needs a firm hand but cannot bear harsh training methods. It is also not always good with strangers. The Dalmatian appears to be suspicious and makes a good watchdog.
